Smoke’s Poutinerie Goes for the Gold with 99.3 Percent Original Mac Daddy Poutine

Weird, Wild and Wacky Canadian Brand Unveils Ultimate Olympian Meal

AJAX, Ontario – Smoke’s Poutinerie, the “World’s Largest and Original Poutinerie,” is ramping up for an athletic event of epic proportions this summer. With the intention of winning the minds, hearts and stomachs of fans worldwide, Smoke’s Poutinerie is finally revealing its long-kept, super-size secret this June – the Mac Daddy Poutine.

After decades of keeping quiet, the gastronomical genius and creator of Smoke’s Poutinerie, Smoke is ready to disclose the top-secret concoction he created by chance at a food stand during the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. On the eve of the opening ceremony, Smoke tested and developed countless recipes to no avail, until he noticed that a passerby bumped into his table, lost his balance and fell. Smoke also noticed that, before his big fall, the man, who goes by the name of Mick Donald, accidently dropped something inside of Smoke’s giant pot of poutine. After helping the man up, the two immediately noticed that the item was a hamburger, covered in sesame seeds and oozing with a secret sauce. Following a gut instinct, Smoke cut up and mixed the burger into his poutine pot and created a unique, 99.3 percent original dish loaded with crunchy pickles and melted cheddar cheese.

The world famous Mac Daddy Poutine starts with traditional poutine (fresh piles of hand-cut, crispy fries, squeaky cheese curd and Smoke’s signature, piping-hot gravy) and is topped with prime beef, sharp cheddar cheese sauce, “Special” sauce, crisp and fresh shredded lettuce, pickles and sesame seeds. The innovative dish is available from June 20 to August 7 at all Smoke’s Poutinerie locations, and with the purchase of a drink, fans can also receive a free limited edition Smoke’s Poutinerie button, while supplies last. In total, there are four collectible buttons with wacky taglines such as “Don’t Trust Anyone Who Doesn’t Like Poutine” and “You’re Loving It.”

“It’s been almost 40 years since Smoke first invented the Mac Daddy Poutine, and I have to say, it is the most delicious secret that’s he’s ever kept,” said Ryan Smolkin, founder and CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer) at Smoke’s Poutinerie. “Now, just in time for the Olympics, Smoke can finally shock and amaze our fans with this. There is absolutely nothing else out there that comes close to resembling the incredible, world famous Mac Daddy Poutine.”

Smoke’s Poutinerie sources top-of-the-line ingredients, including potatoes that are hand-selected from farms in Idaho and cheese curds from producers in Wisconsin. The brand’s traditional menu includes 30 varieties of poutine, from Chili Cheesesteak Poutine with flat iron steak, homemade chili and cheese sauce, to the Double Pork Poutine with chipotle pulled pork and double-smoked bacon, as well as multiple vegetarian options.
