Nebraska’s Third Potbelly Sandwich Shop to Open in Omaha
The beloved shop will bring its signature sandwiches, shakes, and live music to the heart of Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. – Potbelly Sandwich Shop today announced it will bring a third location to Omaha. Currently slated to open in mid-October of 2016, the shop will be located on the southeast corner of 72nd and Giles at 8350 S. 71st Plaza in Papillion. The widely acclaimed neighborhood hangout will feature its toasty warm sandwiches, hand-dipped milkshakes and live, local music.
Potbelly shops have earned a reputation in communities coast-to-coast, for having delicious food, fun décor and fresh tunes. Craig Frantz, the managing owner of the new sandwich shop, is a Nebraska native with close community connections and an extensive background in business management and operations.
“The Potbelly vibe has proven to resonate well here in Omaha. It’s a perfect fit,” Craig said. “We pride ourselves on that fact that all of our shops are managed with a community-driven mindset and we anticipate the opening of our third Potbelly Shop to bring us even closer to the community.”
Craig will run the business with his brother and business partner Kendall Frantz. Kendall will help manage the restaurant’s operations, focusing on hiring and training new staff, and working to develop the unique Potbelly culture.
“Craig and I used to dream about opening a family business and now that dream is a reality,” Kendall said. “There is nothing quite like Potbelly. This announced opening of our third Potbelly location validates another dream we have always had – to be able to pass down a family business through generations. Potbelly is a timeless concept that we enjoy sharing with our friends, family and community.”
The newest Frantz’s Potbelly Sandwich Shop will hire about 30 staff members, including customer service staff and managers. The restaurant’s operation and delivery hours will be announced at a later date.
“Potbelly very carefully selects our franchisees, entrepreneurs and operators alike. It’s important our brand is represented by people with a commitment to their community and proven entrepreneurial success. With Craig and Kendall’s experience running our successful Omaha locations, we have the utmost confidence in their ability to grow the brand in Nebraska,” said Rick Fossali, senior director of domestic franchising for Potbelly Sandwich Shop. “As every new sandwich shop is designed to resemble the community in which it resides, we’re confident that Craig and Kendall will continue to build sandwich shops that are custom made for Omaha.”
Potbelly Sandwich Shop first opened in Chicago in 1977, and now includes more than 350 shops across the United States. There are also 20-plus franchise shops in the United States and abroad, and the company is projecting more franchised shops to open in 2016.
