Potbelly Sandwich Shop Opens Franchise Location in Greensboro

North Carolina’s first Potbelly shop brings signature shakes, sandwiches and live music to Westover Gallery of Shops

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Potbelly Sandwich Shop announced today that North Carolina’s first shop, located in Greensboro, is open to the public. The shop is located in Greensboro’s Westover Gallery of Shops at 1310 Westover Terrace, at the intersection of Wendover Avenue and Battleground Avenue. The widely acclaimed neighborhood hangout features toasty warm sandwiches, hand-dipped milkshakes and live, local music, which make it “The Best Place for Lunch.”

Potbelly has earned a reputation in communities across the United States for having delicious food, fun décor and fresh tunes. Carter Spradling, the managing owner of the new sandwich shop, is a Greensboro native with close community connections and a strong background in business management and operations.

“My wife and I lived in Maryland for a few years. During that time, we came to truly enjoy eating at Potbelly,” Spradling said. “We always talked about how we wished Potbelly was in Greensboro and how well it would do here. Now we’re putting our money where our mouths are!”

Spradling has opened the franchise sandwich shop to a community with an emphatic excitement for new brands. Many eager fans have already grown to love the brand during their time throughout the Midwest and in many cities along the East Coast like Washington D.C. where Potbelly has a strong presence.

“I love everything about Potbelly, from the funky décor to the welcoming staff and everyday value. On top of all of that, every menu item is outstanding,” Spradling added. “Our plan is to have music from day one with plenty of décor pertaining to North Carolina and Greensboro history.”

Greensboro’s Potbelly Sandwich Shop is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday though Sunday.

“Carter and his team are perfect for the Potbelly family and we are thrilled to share our mouthwatering shakes and sandwiches with our fans here in Greensboro,” said Rick Fossali, senior director of domestic franchising for Potbelly Sandwich Shop. “Every new sandwich shop is modeled after the community it resides in, and Carter has a deep history with the community that Potbelly looks for in franchise partners.”

Potbelly Sandwich Shop first opened in Chicago in 1977, and now includes more than 300 shops across the United States. There are also 20-plus franchise shops in the United States and abroad, and the company is projecting more franchised shops to open in 2015.
