Coconut’s Fish Cafe Celebrated the Opening of New Restaurant in Plano with a Founder’s Party

Seasoned Entrepreneurial Family Brought Authentic Hawaiian Flavors and Aloha Spirit to Plano Opening

PLANO, Texas – Coconut’s Fish Cafe, the famed home of Hawaiian fish tacos and the wildly popular phenomenon that has become an unquestioned sensation on the mainland, hosted a Founder’s Party for their second DFW location to welcome long-time, loyal fans and new DFW admirers alike.

The celebration included a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony at the cafe (1900 Preston Road Suite 329), which featured:

  • Kimokeo Kapahulehua, a renowned Maui-based cultural ambassador well known throughout the Island and beyond, who plays an integral role in the preservation and restoration efforts of Hawaiian culture and traditions.
  • Blessings with prayers and chants intended to unite workers and guests in the spirit of

“I challenge anyone who comes in, that has never been to Coconut’s, to say that they’ve tasted as fresh and flavorful of a menu as ours,” said Tim Brasher, a co-owner of the new Plano cafe, who is running it with his son, Nathan, and brother-in-law, Jeff Scherer “From the creative Hawaiian design that evokes a laid-back atmosphere reminiscent of the islands to the tropical flavors that burst with every bite, we have created our own Hawaii in Plano. Longtime Coconut’s fans familiar with our Maui location will absolutely see how we’ve recreated the experience here in Plano.”

Situated at 1900 Preston Road in Preston Park Village, a mixed-use shopping, dining and entertainment venue, the new Coconut’s Fish Cafe delivers the Aloha spirit to each guest. Kindness fills the cafe, cleanliness can be observed throughout, guests receive unrivaled customer service – all while vibrant colors, custom surfboard tables, and Hawaiian décor electrify the atmosphere.

The family is the first Coconut’s Fish Cafe franchisees. They opened their first Coconut’s in Dallas in December 2014 and plan to open several additional cafes between Dallas and Austin in the coming years.

“There is a certain love affair between Coconut’s and our fans that must be nurtured. Tim, Jeff and Nathan are a perfect match for the brand. I’m confident that they’ll continue to spread aloha,” said Michael Phillips, founder and CEO of Coconut’s Fish Cafe, who opened the first location in Kihei in 2009. “They are remarkable entrepreneurs and have a proven track-record in the local and international business scene. Together, we are giving Plano a new dose of dining excellence.”

Coconut’s offers value to its customers unlike any other concept. Nowhere else is fish of such high quality offered at $12; in upscale restaurants, the same pieces of fish are sold for $40 or more. This, along with the brand’s unique menu and atmosphere differentiators, captured the attention of the Brashers and Scherer.
